Simple Things

I am enjoying a quiet morning here at my little corner desk. I can hear my three baby ducklings out in their new yard. I hear birds talking back and forth to one another. I hear the distant buzz of a foreign car starting its engine and driving off. And I hear my refrigerator humming through its cycles.

I find it odd that these things help me stay calm and focused in such trying times. The world is a scary place most of the time. I know at every time and place in my life there have been things that could overwhelm my soul IF I allowed them. I'm glad I have the truth of God's word to center my soul. "He will keep him (or her) in perfect peace if his mind is stayed on Him (God).

The wonder of God and His handiwork is normally seen in nature and its beauty and awe. God spoke and created everything we see, smell, hear, taste and feel. He placed him in a garden and gave him dominion over all the work of His hands. Then man screwed it up and sold out to the complexity of being in charge. We like being in charge, but how can one who is so limited in scope (in himself) be in charge of anything? Adam clearly was clueless after separated from God. He hid behind leaves and in the dark. He turned into an accuser when he had been the son of God.

So here I am, quiet, alone and glad that I have made God through His Son, the God of my world. He is God of the universe, but only if trusted will He get into the affairs of men. He gives us authority, but using it takes some real divine guidance and intervention when used improperly.

I rejoice today knowing that this whole mess we live in can only go so far. God won't allow us to self destruct. He has set limits and boundaries and can even speed up time if needs be! I'm sure glad I can focus on the simpler things of everyday living knowing that really my focus is on God; on my Father. He is God and He's the best one for the job. He's a good Father and He gives good gifts.

Life Lessons on the Farm

This has been a tough week and also a good week. Living on a makeshift farm has been quite a lesson for me. We started with two Nigerian tiny goats as "lawn mowers" and now have 12 goats; one of which is pregnant with what look like twins. We also have 29 chickens (8 of which are baby chicks), and five ducks (three of which are ducklings). Oh yes, we have a little lapdog and a cat (f0rmerlly known as "Feral" but now called "Freckles").

We've butchered a few chickens, enjoyed their eggs, and butchered a goat (yet to enjoy the meat). I've nurtured several chickens back to health and lost a couple as well. My pet rooster "Wonky" had a genetic disease that caused his legs to be malformed and had to be put down. That was really hard. I used to hold him and talk to him. I would carry him around the yard so he could have a break off of his crippled legs. He was precious, but his life was short. "Waddles" my golden Aracuana hen broke a toe when she was a chick and I nursed her to health. Her sister "Bingo" was eaten by a predator of some sort.

I lost two baby ducklings earlier this week. They came from a place with less than clean holding cages. The poor babes were in with chickens and geese, which is a real "no no" if you know a thing about poultry and water fowl. I should have known better, but my desire to find mates for my drakes outweighed my common sense.

I had no idea how hard it would be to eat my animals. Hubby butchered a couple of our Cornish hens and it took me months to pull them from the freezer and eat them. I learned important lessons the day I finally made the decision to do so. I found myself nauseous while eating, but had to get past it and enjoy the food. It was a real stretch.

I used to get mad at veterinarians who were hard shelled. I also thought many farmers were a little hardened as well. There is need to become somewhat "hardened" when one farms and eats the meat that is raised. I love meat. I am a real "meat and potato" woman. I used to really hate vocal "vegans" who condemned meat eaters. I have more compassion now that I've actually raised chickens and eaten them and their eggs. Wow, did I say that?

When I first moved from California to Wyoming (in the seventies) I had a friend who volunteered to help another friend butcher 250 chickens in one weekend. I cavalierly volunteered to help. My mother had seen to it that I had many experiences in camping, house keeping, pioneering and the likes so I'm the adventurous type. I ended up pin feathering the chickens after they were killed, gutted, and dunked in boiling water and defeathered. Pin feathering is tough work. Your hands get sore and water logged from the job. My payment was ten chickens. I took them home and carelessly ate them. It just isn't the same as raising and getting to know the chickens you kill.

It isn't easy in any way to raise, feed and get to know an animal only to kill it and eat it. I'm not good at it, but I'm less judgmental of those who chose the vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. Man was initially vegan before the flood. God is the one who told us to eat meat after Noah left the ark. The animals weren't afraid of man before the flood, but God put the fear of man in them after the flood.

I look forward to the day when we won't "have" to eat living creatures. It's coming, but for now someone is out there having to do the hard job of raising and butchering countless animals. I know we won't do this forever, but for now I'm the guardian of a whole boat load of animals. I love them, hold them, nurture them and one day either sell them or butcher them. I have animals designated as "pets" that will live out the full number of their days. They are spoiled and pampered as are our other animals.

The bible says, "A righteous man regards the life of his beast, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." I will always regard the life of my beasts, and I won't ever take them for granted. They may try my patience from time to time, but life is so fragile and precious it must be held in the highest regard whether animal or man.

God, His Revelation to Us

God, who is He? Where is He? Does He exist? Why can't we see Him? If He exists, why does He allow suffering? If He exists, why doesn't He do something about the evil in the world?

I believe in God and more than that I know Him. I couldn't live if I didn't have a personal relationship with Him. Once upon a time not so long ago I would have asked those questions in my mind, but NEVER have voiced them out loud. Today, BECAUSE I know Him I am not afraid to face them and verbalize them.

This is how I understand God from what He has revealed to us through first His written word, and then through the living word (His Son Yeshua the Messiah).

  1. God exists, always has and needs no outside source to do so
  2. God is three part (spirit, soul [mind, will and emotions} and body)
  3. God created angels as ministering spirits
  4. One angel (an arch angel with a high ranking) rebelled out of pride
  5. All the angels God set under him went with him
  6. God has way more angels than the enemy has
  7. God manifested His son (who already existed in the spirit realm)
  8. The adversary enticed His son (Adam) to rebel
  9. God was WAY ahead of the enemy
  10. God's plan was for man to do exactly what he did. Adam's apparent failure was part of God's plan or will.
  11. God's son was slain in God's mind BEFORE the foundation of the world
  12. God defeated the enemy BEFORE he ever took a single thought
  13. God works outside of time, though He is in time as well
  14. God is spirit
  15. His words are spirit, light, life, water, seed, eternal, and powerful
  16. All things natural are made from all things spiritual
  17. God who is light can never be put out by darkness, but darkness can't stay where light is
  18. God has put man on and in a limited time frame and when the time is up, it's up.
  19. God gave man 7,000 years to destroy the works of the adversary. It was done in Messiah, but the full manifestation won't be until the 7,000th year is up. Today if you trust the Hebrew calendar keeping is year 5771.
  20. God is love and His plan is full of mercy and grace.
  21. God hates sin because it kills His children.
  22. Sin was completely dealt with in the Messiah's life, death and resurrection.
  23. Those who walk by faith (the power of the eternal kingdom) are eternally sealed in Messiah Yeshua.
  24. God gave dominion to man when He placed Him in the garden
  25. Man gave dominion to the adversary when he sold out his birthright for the forbidden fruit. (Knowledge of good and evil.)
  26. Yahowshua Hamashiach bought dominion back when he went to the death side of "paradise" and suffered for all mankind's sin. He took the keys of death, hell and the grave with him.
  27. Yeshua now intercedes for us on the throne of heaven. He temporarily has all authority in heaven and earth. He will surrender it voluntarily to the Father when the 7,000th year is up. He will hand all authority back to him just before the 8th day or when the clock stops and eternity takes over again.
  28. It's very exciting to be a child of the Most High through Messiah Yahowshua!
  29. God is not just God to me; He is my Abba (Father in Hebrew).
  30. I no longer have to be afraid of Him and hide like Adam did in the garden. In Messiah I can approach without fear to his throne. Even though I still have sin residing in the dirt bag I call my earthly body, I have the Holy Spirit (Ruach Hakodesh) sealing and infilling me!
  31. You can have this too. Just believe that Yeshua was really who he said he was. He came and lived as the living torah or living word, God or YHVH manifested Him to destroy the works of the adversary. Call on his name; Yahowshua Ha Mashiach (also known as Jesus the Christ). You will then be adopted into the eternal family of God and be an eternal creature. Sin will no longer have dominion over you and your life.
